Workshop on Understanding Knowledge Systems and Effective Strategies to Promote Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Rwanda.


Introduction

The University of Rwanda (UR) in partnership with the African Center for Technology Studies (ACTS) held a one day applied workshop at University of Rwanda on the 25th of July, 2018 to mark the inception of the Knowledge Systems Innovation (KSI) project. KSI is a project funded by the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) through the East Africa Research hub with lead partners from the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), at the University of Greenwich, the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, the African Center for Technology Studies, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).

Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Kenya - Insights from stakeholder workshop


Introduction

A stakeholders workshop organised by the African Centre for Technology Studies and the University of Nairobi was held at the Sarova Panafric hotel on the 29th of June, 2018 to mark the inception of the Knowledge Systems Innovation ‘KSI’ project. This project funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) through the East African Research Hub is implemented in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania with a goal of designing effective knowledge systems that produce high quality education, research, innovation and new technologies. The project is a North-South collaboration with the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), at the University of Greenwich, Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), at the University of Sussex and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

ACTS and Partners launches a study on Understanding of Knowledge Systems Project in Tanzania


The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) in partnership with the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) of the University of Greenwich, the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and Dar-es-salaam University College of Education (DUCE) started a consultative process under a new project aimed at understanding knowledge systems in Tanzania on the 26th of June, 2018 at New Africa Hotel-Dar-es-salaam. This project funded by the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), through the DFID East Africa Research Hub is geared towards understanding the knowledge systems to inform what works and what doesn’t within the Tanzania context. The Africa’s agenda 2063 proposes greater investments in new technologies and innovations for sustained growth, competitiveness and economic transformation.
